adding a second sub at the same power level is roughly 3db.

close to 2x as loud, but what voice coil config are ur subs and what amp do you have... your amp may not be able to handle the added load

Keep in mind it won't sound twice as loud. IE: if you cut your current subwoofer at 50% then raised 100%, the difference isn't going to be like that. It will be more like you have your subwoofer at 50%, then turn it up to 60%.

My volume **** doesn't stop at 10, it goes to 11. Does this rule still apply to me?

Great advice, it will not get all that apparently louder. And, shallow mount subs have such low excursion(none I know of that are currently available have much at all but maybe something came out I am not aware of at this time) I prefer to use a smaller diameter normal sub with more excursion if I can make it fit.

I like to use a single 10 like the Arc Audio I have installed or sold at least 100 of, great SQL, not very heavy, does not need a ton of power. I used to build an underseat enclosure for STI's etc, sold a ton a bunch of them a few years back and still get asked to build them now(I am having some built soon), just great bass, in the cabin instead of buried in the trunk, no need to deaden the rear of the car just seal it off instead.....

I will probably buy some of the enclosures already made for the Vette so I can test what fits, how they work with a great sub, etc then I can just recommend them to my customers unless I find I can do something better at the right price. For now I am working on subless designs that would have more than enough bass for most real music

Same as Cubic Inches, no replacement for Displacement, usually, but I like to go against the current whenever I can, much more fun even if it does not work out in the end at least I tried

You get 3 db , not even close to twice as loud. 3 db is a "noticeable" difference. next question you need to ask your self is do I have the ability to power a second sub? Are you planing on buying a pair of 8 ohm subs or can your sub amp handle 2 ohms or are you going to buy a second amp?
