Default Head Unit Install Question... Please help

Pretty new to the forum here, I'd appreciate any helpful knowledge/suggestions.

I was planning on installing a Nakamichi MB-75 in the factory location (I've got an '02 year model if you can't see the sig), but it appears that there is not quite enough depth to accomodate. Hardware for appropriate mounting came with the unit, but I was wondering about cutting the plastic behind the radio (looks like the fan for the AC). Has anyone done this????
I'd really like to keep the radio looking flush w/ the rest of the dash rather than having it stick out at me like a pimple... he he.

Any know how is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

:)

It's an AC duct. The best you can do is deform it with a heat gun.
