Where can i find the stock amp on a 00 C5????Also is the computer for the radio/onstar located in the passenger fender well???The problem is the radio turns on but no sound comes out of the speakers i think the guy that owned the car before my uncle had an after market system and cut out the Bose amp???please chime in and correct me...Does anyone know of a good shop in NYC that maybe is a forum sponsor that i could send my uncle over too???Thanks in advance guys/gals
Have you tried to contact the previous owner? Several years after I sold my C5 I got a call from someone asking me about replacing the PIAA fog light bulbs.
The old owner said he removed the stock amp because he put a aftermarket audio system in the car....what that has to do with removing the old one i have no clue i always bypassed the stock but always left the amp inplace if i ever took my aftermarket stuff out!!! Thanks for the Remarks guys/gals

The amps were built into each doors speaker housing, so when he removed the stock speakers, he removed the amps.
Buy a set of stock front speakers and you'll get the amps with them.
If the past owner said he "removed the stock amp", that could mean anything since the only external amps in a C5 are for the door subs. The other speakers are powered by the radio itself after the signal goes through the Bose signal processor. If you have no sound at all, assuming your speakers are actually installed, the problem is probably in the dash.
However, it's all but pointless for us to try and recommend something to buy for a 'quick fix' without knowing what the exact problem is. It could be something as simple as a plug that isn't properly connected to the back of the radio, or your entire system could have been gutted and never replaced.
If you are willing to troubleshoot it yourself, we can help. If you take it somewhere, make sure they know how a C5 system works, or at least print out the schematics for them.
