Default C5 Double Din Mod

Quick question. I am going to have the double-din mod done to my bezel. My question is if I have the ashtray removed, what happens to the two screws that hold the bezel in place that are located in the ashtray area? Are they no longer used, and if so what holds the bottom part of the bezel to the dash? Thanks guys.

you dont use the 2 screws anymore but with a quality bezel should have zero issues

I was planning on using his bezel with his $189 dollar deal going on. I just wondered if there was any problem with rattling or anything with those two screws missing. Thanks for the info.

I used C5Bearsfan's bezel that still incorporates the ashtray. Looks good and has all the original functionality and retains those 2 screws. You can see the picture of mine by following the C5 audio thread at the top of the page.

You have two choices to best answer the question for you.

One
If you keep the ashtray and have me modify the top you dont have to worry as nothing below the radio will have to be touched and you can still reuse the same screws.

Two
If you go no ashtray then the bottom section is filled in meaning the ash tray section is taken out so you will not even have to worry about the screws as there will not be that part of the bezel left to screw down. You will be fine with the bezel not using these two screws.

The biggest thing you will have to do is cut out either one or two of the support brackets holding the factory radio and HVAC controls in place. The repositioning of the head unit to hit the opening is the part that takes some time to get it ligned up correctly.

Greg(pentavolvo) or myself can answer more questions for you if you need info. Just send us a PM or email

Let me know when your ready to get it done. I can work this around your schedule as well.

Thanks
