I put an Alpine PDX-5 in the C5 last Spring, and thought well of it's performance, but I would be open to any and all suggestions on an amp for my '09 Z. I want to add an amp, door speakers, and a sub, but retain the factory Denso touch screen Nav/Bluetooth/XM etc. I like the 5 channel (bridged the front 4) amps, but would be open to a 2.1 although I don't know of any specifics, or even if they make any. Any help?
I'm thinking bridging the 4x75w (the Alpine PDX-5) to send 150w to the doors (what I did on the C5) and sending the 300w to the sub. A 10w1v2-4 JL is what I'm thinking along with the JL sub enclosure (this is what JL sells as a package, so I would think the 300w would be more than enough to this small enclosure and somewhat shallow speaker. I added a Capacitor to the C5's amp (again PDX-5) is this a waste or what? I realize this isn't a high end system I'm describing, but if someone has some direction I'm all ears.
Zapco makes some great amps (Reference and DC series are great, but a little expensive), and it's hard to go wrong with the Arc amps (even the inexpensive Foose Design series). There have been some really good reports on the new Soundstream Reference series (for a less expensive option), but I haven't hear those yet.
But as Pentavolvo mentioned, knowing your price range will really help narrow down the best for the price you want to spend. Otherwise it would be easy to come up with a really big list!
I just swapped out my PDX 2.150 Alpine amp with a JL 300/2. It sounds cleaner and has much more filtering and connection abilities (i.e. preamp out to another amp, HP/LP filters).

I have always been a JL fan, I have a 300/4 and a 500/1 I love the sound nice and clean powerful. I have heard good things on PDX amps. Its all what you want to spend, ARC is another good amp too.
alpine or fosgate is a good way to go for decent money. I would run a dedicated sub amp. A have an alpine 500 watt running a single P3fosgate 10 inch sub and let me say "just that" made the system complete for my needs. The sub pounds enuf to make your ears ring for hours and it makes the stock system sound fine because all you need it for is tweets and some mids. If your getting a sub anyway start with that and see what you think ,,,,,,you will be shocked at how just a sub makes the stock system sound incredible. paul
There is a used McIntosh MC440 on ebay right now for about $550. If you have a budget of up to $1000 why not watch for used equipment like that for less than half price new and get what you really want.
I have a hard time trusting used electronics. Most recently another member (Kamil before he got banned) sold me some MB Quarts in "excellent" condition. When I recieved,3 of them were damaged beyond any use. 2 cracked cones and one that was completely seperated.
