I am considering installing a Kenwood Double Din Nav head unit into my 2004 C5. I will convert the center console to accept the DD head unit, however in researching the various NAV/MP3 players, etc. I noticed that some of them do not support the older IPODs.
I just bought the new IPOD Touch and noticed that it does not charge in my Klipsh IGroove home speaker system. Apparently, Apple has changed the charge voltage with their latest releases and I can only charge the unit through the supplied USB cable.
My question...will the Kenwood units also charge the IPOD while it's playing? I plan to connect the IPOD adaptor and run it into the glove box. Since I can operate the IPOD with the NAV touch screen, I don't need access to it. However I do want it to charge while in operation.
You need something like this. Do a google to get one online, or I've read that they're available at Target for $25.
The new ipods need 5v to charge, older versions could use 12v or 5v. Any system that connects to a dockable ipod can be used with any ipod, but you may need the above adapter.
yep, your Kenwood will charge the ipod and also you will have complete ipod control on the Kenwood touch screen. We leave our Ipod nano 4th gen in the glove box and so far, only remove it to load new tunes, podcasts. The Kenwood will turn it on and off. I'm sold. Ipod and HD radio,,,,, no more XM for me.
