Default Critique this setup (C4)

I'm planning on replacing my Audio setup that came with car in the C4 1996. Before I pull the trigger.....

For around the same $$$, should I do something else:

- (HU) Pioneer HU DEH-P6100BT
- (AMP) Soundstream PIC (60 Wrms @ 4ohm) <-already have this...
- (FRONT) Polk Audio MM6501 components (125 Wrms @ 2.7 ohm)
- (BACK) Sub or 6x9. Not sure yet...

Is the AMP and speakers power match okay?
Something better for about the same $$ ??
($600-$800 for HU/speakers)
Any comments?

Your component speakers should receive 125 watts each side to perform at their best. Also, definately install a Subwoofer (10") since 6x9's won't produce powerful bass.

I use a 4 channel Hifonics Zeus amp with two channels powering the front 5 1/4" Infinity components and the other two channels Bridged to power the 10" Subwoofer.

Check out this Eclipse head unit, same price point, more features. You should also think about an Ipod adapter and maybe even a Sirius adapter. Both are great for long rides.

You will need a bigger amp for the car, your current amp won't cut it for all the speakers. I put two 8" subs in the rear speaker compartments, made it a steath install. Something else to consider is to mount the tweeters on the "A" pillars. This "raises" the sound stage, and makes the stereo sound much better; w/o doing this, the system will sound muffled.

Check here for good used equipment: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/classifieds/

Don't just buy everthing from Crutcfield.

Do the subs in the back, I put in some new 6x9's and wasn't happy with them so I pulled them and have been going without for now. Can't tell much of a difference from with and without the 6x9's in the back. I'd like to do a stealth install of subs in the back like RandyJ used to run but it takes more time and skill then I currently have.
