I previously had a Infiniti which also had the Bose system in it. I had this one shop install a RF 360a2 amplifier in it with a 12" RF DVC subwoofer in a bandpass box. Well it did hit pretty hard and I was very satisfied with it. I then bought the vette and had the same amp and subwoofer installed in it by the same shop...however this time it sounds like crap and doesn't hit near as hard. Before, I had to turn down the bass on the HU to keep the bass from drowning out the music..now I have the bass turned all the way up and it still doesn't sound as good. I asked someone else about it and they stated (this is what they said so don't bash me) that the first time they installed the amp they might have tapped the signal after the amplifier attached to each speaker, which means they would have been tapping the amplified signal...and that this time they might have tapped it before the signal was amplified, which is why it sounds weaker...can anybody give me any advise or tips as to why it doesn't sound the same? Do I need to check something on my end or what? I don't want to take it back to them if they are just going to f it up again. Thanks for the help!!!
Your problem is that your stereo installer has no knowledge of the C5 Bose system. Make a copy of my posting on the subject, and give it to your installer. It is very easy to add a sub to a C5 because is has pre-amp outputs that can be tapped on the back of the HU.
P. S.
The four Bose Twiddler speakers are only fed 1khz and above. If you tap these signals, you will get very little bass.
Show him my posting, if he can understand it, then maybe. If you are handy, it is not too hard to do. You need to get two long RCA-RCA cables and cut one end off. You then splice these cables into the pre-amp output wires on the back of the HU, use the rear channels. Just use a reliable splicing method that won't fall apart.
I'm pretty good with home audio stuff...but when it comes to car audio...I could probably do it but would need some instruction on how to do it. I took it to this guy almost a year ago and taking it back now, probably wouldn't do any good. I would much rather do it myself so that I know it gets done right...but can you provide me with step by step instructions on how to do it? I appreciate all your help!!!
There are only a few screws and bolts holding the center console. You need a 10 mm socket wrench and a T10 Torqs driver. The T10's are hidden behing the temperature sensor and the ashtray. Just don't force anything and you will be fine.
Help.....I have everything taken apart and all the wires ran...now when i spliced the RCA cable...there are three wires coming out of each one...one ran on the outside of the inner black insulated wire...then there are two twisted in their separate insulations...one has a blue wire and white on one cable the other is a white wire and a black one....what do i do with these...which one do i use to tap the back of the HU?
My baby's still gutted so help me out as soon as you can...!!!
Ok 99ht,Let me jump in here since he is local .(Btw I spoke with rob from soundgate after my email to you .......Its coming finally).
More than likely these guys did tap off the back speaker leads(Woops).
99 ht is correct about wiring off the pre amp of the radio (the way I do them).

Ten sec7, thanks for the help...i had to take a guess at it and spliced the two white wires together onto the ground, then the blue from one RCA to the BRN on the HU and the BLK on the RCA to the BLU on the HU...turned on the car and MAN!!! Big time difference....next time I need to do something I'll do it myself...here's my dilemma now...I have a RF 8" DVC that runs at 400/800, it hits pretty hard for being an 8 but can't get the lows like I used to with the 12" DVC I used to have...might have to give in to getting a 12...as far as the center well, what are my options on boxes...I've seen some people sell them, some make them, and others cut a hole in their cover and just drop it in...what do you suggest?
