How did you format the USB flash drive? I have both Mac's and PC's and found the same problem when formatting in Mac. I now format in FAT and have no problem reading all my AVI and DIVX.

Just make sure you format with a PC or in PC format (ie FAT). As for the file types, I think you got it
well, i did the boot up screen the right way so i think i got the format right. but you're saying that i DO need to use AVI files right? haha, when you said "i think you got it" i wasnt sure if u meant i got that i had to change to avi's or if mp4's are the right file type.

LOL I meant you need to use AVI's and DIVX's I don't think MP4's work as they are proprietary to Mr. Gates. The other formats are public domain.

MPEG-4 is an open standard - the ISO standard was actually based on Apple's Quicktime format. The MP4 extension is the video equivalent of MP3 for audio. I haven't tried using the USB connnection with my Kenwood yet, so I don't know if it works or not, but that would be the format most likely to work.

I am corrected. Thank you. I was obviously confused with WMV

Yup - WMV is a great standard, unfortunately it's not widely supported. I've had to rip all of my CD's in both WMV (for best sound quality at home, and on my Zune) and MP3 (for compatibility with my IPod for use with my Kenwoods, Denon clock radio, etc). With close to 1000 CD's, it's taking a loooong time.... and lots of disc space!
