I took the top of a Dupli-Color Engine Enamel spray can and found that it fit pretty darned well inside the vette cup holder. (it's gotta be a fairly large spray can cover). I covered the cover with black electrician's tape (someday I'll come up with the right size 'black' cover) and secured the iPod holder on the cover with double sided tape. (the holder comes with double sided tape on it but I put my own piece on so I can use the original when I find the correct black spray paint cover).

I circled the very bottom of the cover with the electrician's tape (even though it isn't visible inside the cup holder) for a tighter fit inside the cup holder. I took it for a test drive, made a spirited turn or two. It stayed put. It fits pretty snugly.
...and Yup. We miss Frank.

Mr. Bill:

Why not just put it in the console? That is, unless you already ran the power wire in a way that would prevent it. (Actually, even if you did, you could re-route it pretty easily). I find that as much as I use playlists when I drive, the Ipod2car allows enough skipping around in the list via the radio controls to satisfy me. And it's still pretty easy to get into that console while driving! I never found it that easy to operate the Ipod while driving anyway, with or without the mount!

Just a thought...Good luck with whatever you decide.

Did this one for a customer.

It's a twist lock base/charger. You can remove the mount and storee it in the console:
