Ok I admit that audio stuff confuses the heck out of me and since my local audio guy killed himself I'm kind of SOL when it comes to getting information. So if you guys can help I would really appreciate it.
Pentavolvo already helped me with picking out a HU but I don't want to keep filling up his PM's with my questions. So anyway, I just picked up a Kenwood DDX714 and it comes with an Ipod video cable but that's it. What are the other things I need? I looked at the FAQ section and still didn't know where to start.
1- what do I need to keep my chimes?
2- do i need something to keep the onstar or is that just a thing of the past now?
3- what's a good reverse camera to buy?
a) does anyone have pictures of their camera mounted?
FYI- I have a 09 6a 1lt. Also, I will be doing just the HU, ipod video and camera this time around. Will be doing amp & speakers next month.

1+2: This thread details what you'll need for the HU install. GMAH24B and GMAHCM will be required to maintain OnStar and all of the beeps.

you want the metra dash kit that is listed in the one post linked in here
the metra 40-gm10 antenna adapter
peripheral gmah24b & gmahcm (reading the descriptions will lead you to believe you dont need both of them or something like that, but trust me you need them both)
onstar and chimes will work
where did you want to mount/put the camera. i have used numerous 20 dollar china ones with superb results.
I also dont mind PMs with questions but sometimes the box does get pretty full and i think posting stuff helps everyone learn since alot of people come in here to read and gain knowledge

Ok, I ordered the dash kit and the antenna adapter. Now do I need to order a steering wheel control unit in addition to the gmah24b & gmahcm? Also, how do I know if I have the bose system? It sounds pretty decent so I'm thinking I don't!
I think I want to mount the camera on the rear plate like in the thread above.
