I'm slowly getting into the audio side of things, and was wanting to keep the amp hidden from view. It appears an amp will not fit into the small compartments in the rear just from the measurements I've taken, and I'm not a big fan of it being behind the seat. Is it okay to mount the amp and a 10" sub in the center compartment in the rear?
A 10" sub in a properly sized enclosure won't leave any room for an amp in the center tub.
The rear vertical wall is a good place to mount one, mostly out of view there.
Smaller class D amps like the Alpine PDX series will fit in the side tubs and don't generate as much heat, but they do cost more.
Have you considered the center storage tub? Placed mine there and still have a little room for storage.
I utilize an ARC Audio KS 900.6 Six Channel Amp

Here's my solution. I am waiting for Torch Red carpet, then I will finish-fit the amp cover and completely hide the amp. The total install will be stealth.
Just curious how you're gonna get cool air to that amp with it covered Chevy.
Honestly, I don't listen at loud levels. The amp barely gets warm, so this is a non-issue for me. But if I was 20 years old and insisted on maximum volume all the time, then cooling might be an issue.
Even still, when I finally get the correct carpet, I am gonna run one continuous piece over the cover, so the front of the amp will only have a piece of carpet separating it from the cabin air.
Another thought would be to drill a few big air holes in the cover (mdf board) on each side of the amp to allow cross-flow. Ya know, I might do this just for ***** and giggles.......
I am about ready to start my amp, sub and speaker replacement in my C5 Vert.
The 8" sub, sub box and amp are going in the center cubby. I wanted a stealth install.
Worried about the possibility of overheating, I am installing a mini relay at the hear unit and tapping into my REM wire that goes back to the amp. Now if I experience a overheating problem, all I will need to do is add a small 12 volt fan in the cubby to help cool and it will come on when the amp is on.
Credit is do to Pentavolvo My go to designer! Thanks Greg.
