Recommendation for woofer replacement in JL Stealthbox
Like the title says. The stock woofer really doesn't put out any true bass - 15 to 25 Hz. I don't even know if it's possible with that small box. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking the Image Dynamics ID10D2 V.3 might be a good one to try.

I just finished installing a IDQ10V3.D2 in my 2000 convertable. I built a stealth box out of 3/4" MDF using the plans from this forum. I don't know if a box like the JL made of fiberglass is going to really work but if you pack it super tight with 2-3 lbs of polyfil and cover it in damping material it just might. The IDQ10V3 is 5.5" tall, it should fit in the JL stealth box.
I insulated the entire interior of the car with second skin damplifier pro and used 3 sheets of their luxury liner pro too. Damping the car is important for deep bass. I coupled the sub in the 3/4 MDF box with a properly wired Rockford Fosgate T500-1bd. Lol, it shook two of the mirrors off the walls inside the house. Wife was not happy.
Definitely more bass than you'll ever need when driving down the road.

Keep me posted as well. Although my JL door speakers put out a lot, I would love even more bass from the Stealthbox too.

Bass in that range has a lot more to do with enclosure size and design than it does with woofer design and specs.
To give you an idea, my home enclosure is tuned to 18hz, it is a 15" Adire Tempest with a 1000w amp to it. The enclosure is 24"x24"x26" with 2 9" flared ports and about 2lbs of fill. Not something you can fit in a vette
You can certainly choose a sub that may play slightly lower in a given space based upon the the specifications of the woofer, but not significantly (IE from 35hz to 15hz playback).
CD's play 20hz and up, and very, very little of what is mastered for today actually contains any information that low. Generally what sounds good in a car is around 40-45hz.
Getting real playback in the 15-35hz range in a car requires multiple subs with large/tuned enclosures. SPL type vehicles can get playback in that range due to their enclosure types, but it is usually down 20-30db from peak frequency.
Could you change the sub out and get better low bass extension? I think that you can, and the IDQ line is a good start. But in that sized enclosure you can only do so much.

Former Vendor
JL10W3/ IDQ10 V3
Mounting flange diameter 10.5"/ 11.063"
Cutout 9.026"/ 9.6"
Depth 5.93"/ 5.75"
Mag Diameter 5.25"/ 5.375" (my ID measurement)
The ID instead of the IDQ may be a drop in fit, still a great sub, I only have some 8's here though, just the 10" IDQV3.
I will PM you with another option that does fit
