upgrade speakers in C5Z?
I am not a huge audio guy. Frankly I don't have the greatest hearing anyways after riding motorcycles for years.
My hearing is ok, but I don't think I have the ability to really notice the "good" stuff from the "ok" stuff.
Anyways, what is a reasonable speaker (do I really need a additional amp with the Avic-Z2?) upgrade that may sound a little better in the C5Z maybe for $500 or less?
I really don't want to give up the deep trunk space for a sub, it does to good of job storing groceries, the wife's laptop computer bag when taking her to work, misc crap I pick up during daily errands etc.
I really don't want to put in custom speaker boxes etc. Ok putting in some adapters in the doors etc for upgraded speakers if I need to, but it's got to be simple. I am not a detail kinda guy, I am a gear head that likes to spin wrenches.
Just a little better sound quality when I turn it up over the road noise.
When I do this project, I really don't want to go with the road noise absorption material at this point. I am thinking the install of the DD mods/radio bezel, the install of the Avic-Z2, Nav/blue tooth/Ipod adapters will most likely be enough for one project.
But I am thinking possibly maybe I put in some new speakers and maybe some tweeters or something at the same time since I have the car apart.
What do you guys think?
Be kind, I am not a avid audio dude. I purchase maybe 3 or 4 cd's a year.
PS: I have a couple modules to install above. I was thinking of maybe getting one of those storage units (hold a couple drinks and a couple storage area's with hinged lids) that sit on the shelf behind the rear seats, would it be ok to mount the modules inside them? Thinking if the heat will build up inside and fry the units. What do you guys think? Or could I mount these underneath the co-driver seat? I am trying to keep the car looking stock if possible - one reason is from a theft perspective.

u do realize by changing speakers (unless u leave bose subs in the doors) and not adding a sub u will lose bass
Regarding bass: actually no I did not realize that, I am a Noob at this. My stereo upgrades in the past were 20 years ago.
Can I change the speakers in the front and back to aftermarket and make a improvement vs stock? Below is the audio spec's for the AVIC-Z2, and below that is a link for more details.

Just like the 4 POS twiddlers, the stock door subs are nothing special, but they are the only thing in the stock setup that plays any real bass notes. Removing them without installing a sub usually isn't a good idea.
Just replacing the 3.5" twiddlers with something like Polk db351 2-ways will give you much better highs for about $50. Click on the link in my sig, the same rears I used would also work for you, and they're also only $50.
