I currently have the dash open doing some aftermarket HU work and I am going to install an accessory valet from Top Down Technologies. The purple wire on the valet needs to tie into the serial data line.
Does anyone know the wire color on the stock Bose radio connector (which I do not use) that is the serial data line so I can tap into it?
it should be in the diagrams posted in the faq, i always tap at the obdII conector
Yea I tried to read the RAP schematics in there but they are a little busy for me to follow and hard to read. Was hoping someone with an eye for those drawings could tell me what color the wire is for the serial data line that's in the radio plug cluster.
C5 schematics are HERE, look at pin-out for C1/C2.
It should be the ORANGE wire at pin 16 of C2 (the big gray plug), but make sure the adjacent wire colors match with the prints, and be aware that there are other orange wires back there that will fry your AV if you connect to the wrong one.
Just FYI, under the dash you're looking for the purple wire at pin 2 of the data plug.

That is exactly what I was looking for. THANK YOU!!

Well no surprise but I found the wire just where Markcz said I would. It is found in the gray/white plug that goes into the Bose HU. I made the connection to a purple wire with a 3M wire connector I purchased at Home Depot then taped it up. I have tested it using the Accessory Valet and all works well. This was a much easier location to connect to for me since I had the bezel off and HU removed.
Thanks Markcz!

Thanks. It's my understanding that the Metra interface retains the RAP function as well. I have the PAC, so I either need to get the Metra or the Accessory Valet to get that function back. Hmmmm. I noticed that my Window valet no longer turns the HU on. I sort of miss that.
One other point I will make, and you can probably figure out why I am addressing it Make sure both doors are fully closed when you check your wiring after making all the the connections and turning on the HU for a test run. If they are not closed the HU will not retain power when you turn off the car and you just may think you wired something wrong and spend a half hour looking for the problem which was simply a door ajar!

Be aware that most aftermarket video HU's will drain your battery in about 10 minutes.

I haven't heard or read anything about that. Can you elaborate on the specifics? Occurs on audio listening only? Or perhaps with a combination of audio and video?
It also depends on your amp. The stock C6 amp can play all afternoon and you'll barely even notice a voltage drop, but if you're pushing 1500w RMS of boom you'd better have AAA.
