So, I am in Kuwait until July and when I get back I am going to install a new sound system. I am going to go with a Double Din head unit and from everything I have seen, I am going to have to rework the bezel. Is this true? I saw the general C5 FAQ and both examples were done with a black bezel. I have an AE edition, so I have the oak or shale, which ever it is. If I have to do this mod, where can I get the right paint?
Yes,you will definitely have to have the bezel modified to accomodate the double din radio. I'm not sure where to get the oak/shale coloring but contact John at Autobuffs,or maybe Double D mods. Either should be able to help you match it perfectly.

You know, I just installed one the other day, and while I'm waiting for my professionally modded bezel to arrive, I took the Dremel tool and small hacksaw to my own bezel and notched it out. About half of the middle bar needs to go away and a great deal from the top if you are planning to keep the ashtray. It wasn't that tough to do. I took some blue painters tape, spray painted it flat black, and affixed it to the outer edges of the face of my HU as a temporary way to fill the gaps on the side until my bezel arrives.
It's really not that tough to do. I just cut out a 7" x 4" template out of cardboard, centered it over the bezel opening, marked where the cuts needed to be made and went for it.
