A hard drive based head unit? Looking for something similar to the Chrysler Mygig.
Not aware of one but why not consider an intergrated unit like the Kenwood 9140? It has all of the features in the Mygig, except of course an uber hard drive for storage. I have the 9140 and utilize the iPod and USB interfaces to display images, video, and play music. I have a C5 also and have laced the cables for these auxilliary devices through the center counsol arm rest. Since the 9140 and other competive HU's are DD, you will need to have your Audio/HVAC bezel modified. Several vendors on the forum can do that for you, or if you are a DIYer it's not a hugh deal. Just a thought.
I know I've seen single-din radios with hard drives that music can be uploaded to, but I can't find a link to one at the moment, they've probably been discontinued. There are several double-din nav units like that.
Many, many HU's are available with ipod and/or usb connections. A new 16GB thumb drive is only $35, that will hold tons of music. However, the ipod interface is much better than using a simple usb device. Say what you want to about Apple, they have the market influence when it comes to mp3's.

The Kenwood Excelon KDC-X991 is an awesome single DIN receiver that offers 512 MB of internal memory as well as a separate USB cable for expansion and another separate cable for full iPod integration. I just removed mine to upgrade to a DD Knewood unit but the X991 is a great system with high end control functions. I'm sure that model has been replaced with something newer although mine is only 2 years old so maybe it is still in the Kenwood line.
