Default Peripheral ipod2car problem/issue with 5th gen Nano

My 2nd generation Nano took a crap this winter so I replaced it with a 5th generation Nano.

I have the Peripheral ipod2car in my 2002 Z06 running the stock head unit(been installed since 2006 or 2007.... cant remember for sure??). I took the car out for the first time since the end of last year and attempted to use my new ipod nano and I cant control the ipod from the click wheel, it has no function at all, I can control from the head unit but if you try to forward through the tracks it will let you get through 15-20 songs and then it repeats them again.

***on a quick side note I did purchase an adaptor block from Griffin that allows older devices to charge the new ipods/iphones.... I also have an integration unit in my 2006 Hummer H2 (which works just fine with the new ipod).*** also I have tried both with and without the adaptor in place with no change in results.

Anyone have any experience with this or having a similar issue??? I also have an iphone and that works just fine.... only issue is with my Nano.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I had an issue with my brother's 5th gen.' in my car. Same set up (Ipod2Car). It wouldn't even recognize the unit, but my I-phone worked flawlessly.

After talking with Dennis at Double D Mods, I contacted PAC and they said it's very possible it's a firmware issue. Have you hooked that 5th gen.' up to Itunes lately? That may fix it. I'm bringing my Ipod Classic back this week to try it. (Car is still in storage). I'll also hook that 5th gen.' up to Itunes and see what happens...

Good Luck...

Update:

No luck with updating the older Ipod. The car still doesn't even recognize it's there (it lights up when I plug it in but the Aux button on the H/U doesn't do anything).

I still have to try my new Classic...Now I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with my Ipod2Car. The last thing I had plugged in was my Iphone and it worked fine. I'm baffled now.

I know it's been a while since my last post, but i wanted to share with everyone what fixed this problem. My new Classic didn't work today so I knew the problem wasn't the Ipod.

Not sure if anyone else has had this happen, but I removed the console this afternoon and unplugged the Ipod2Car from the radio and the Ipod itself and plugged everything back in. Worked perfectly.

Not sure what could have caused that, but I did read a couple of posts on here from quite a while ago about the Ipod2car needing "reset."

Regardless...If anyone is having this same issue, try this before buying a new unit...

Thanks for your post, this may help my situation out. I just got my kit and installed it on Friday. Everything worked great, but the next morning I got an ERR message on the radio and iPod would charge but not play through the radio. The radio wouldn't even go into Aux/CD. I took everything apart, reinstalled it and still didn't work. I called tech support today and they said to try resetting the switches a few times. So I will try that. I think I will install it so I can access the switches through the ash tray or something like that.

I unplugged the Ipod2car cable from the back of the radio as well as the cable from the box to the Ipod. Then, with power on, plugged everything back in. Not sure if that's exactly what you did but if not, it's worth a try..

Good Luck.

OK... I pulled my console apart and tried to unplug/reset the brain box which did not remedy my problem. After messing around with it I have found that when I first plug in the ipod I have a few seconds where Im able to control it from the click wheel and then its almost as if its locked..... if I turn it sideways to "landscape" the display I can skip tracks again for a few seconds????? Very strange but not the end of the world. My wife has a 4th gen Nano that Im going to try out and see if it works any different.

I also called Peripheral (which has merged with PAC) and was told by tech there that my unit has an older version of the software and that is the reason its not working properly, a new unit can be ordered for around $90 bucks. I dont think Im going to shell out the cash for it since it still works perfect with my iphone so I guess I will just use that in the vette.

Rossi and the others... thanks for keeping up on this and trying some different things

I sent mine back to the vendor for a refund. I will wait until something better comes out.
