Default AVIC Z110BT Questions

I have a 2008 Z06 and want to replace my stock nav system. I am considering the AVIC Z110BT. I need to know if this is the best system for my needs.
Here are the important things to me.

1. Bluetooth that works with the iphone 3g

2. Camera capability for front and rear views

3. Steering wheel audio controls continue to work

4. Perfect integration with the iphone 3g

Thanks in advance

Look closely at which service provides live traffic updates.

If it is MSN Direct, they are stopping service for good Jan 2012.

While you may not care about this now, maybe you will in the future, or the possible future owner of the deck or the car (if its mounted in the car). I believe these units will drop like a rock in value once their service provider stops service. I believe you are seeing that now with the rebates being offered on the current Pioneer AVIC Z110BT model.

The new Kenwood coming out I believe uses Navtech (same as the OEM nav units I believe and the same service used in XM Navtraffic). But it is back ordered I believe. And a bonus: I believe it is Garmin based nav.

I went for a used 2 year old Pioneer Z1/Z2/Z3 family Nav unit whose traffic service is based off XM Navtraffic. The hardware is the same, and its about $125 to upgrade the Z1 or Z2 to Z3 status and up to date 2009 maps via a HDD replacement (its easy to do).
I got a great unit, which the original owner absorbed a significant amount of depreciation.
While it may not be the latest and greatest for graphics and the fastest speech recognition, frankly it's light years ahead of the factory OEM unit in my 04 C5Z.
However I am not sure if it will meet your phone requirements. I believe you can only input 1 camera into this unit as well.
You'll have to balance you needs and $.
Or if money is no object and you have some patience: I'd go on the backorder list for the new Kenwood with Dennis at Double D.

Default Install Questions

I will go ahead and piggy back off this thread instead of creating yet another Z110BT thread.

First off, I have a 2008 M6 Onstar Non-Bose configuration. I am keeping the stock sound system, other than the HU. So I have the PAC module.

I have spent the day installing the Z110BT and now I have a few questions to wrap up the install.

I think I have a few things wrong or crossed or something. First, I think I'm just going to toss the CM1 GM Chime thing. I don't like the way it sounds, and it'll free up some much needed room behind the HU. I've yet to mount it all the way in the dash, as I've been troubleshooting and driving around to test the unit, but I'm going to have the damnedest time getting it pushed all the way in.

When I started up the car for the first time after install, the beeps and system noises were incredibly loud. I went in and disabled beeps and other sounds. But I'm still getting some loud "chatter" or background hissing.

That's pretty much the main issue I'm having right now. Markcz has been a tremendous help along the way. Thanks a lot for that Mark. I don't think I have any wires crossed, as it seems like they're pretty self-explanatory. I moved the Mute wire, grounded it, and grounded the parking brake wire. I tapped the Reverse wire in the passenger foot well. The other speaker cables I just color matched and wired them together. I'm at a loss.
