switch for what???

'morning guys
I'm rootin around my '01 figuring out how i'm going to wire and mount the antenna by-pass switch. Underneath the panel by the shifter that holds the active handling switch, and the pass. seatbelt off light,
i found this switch. It has a light, and what seems to be a grill with some foam behind it, and a small button switch. Can anyone tell me what this switch would be for??

That's weird. Looks aftermarket. But what for, I have no idea. Hidden listening device? You being bugged?

Looks like one of those aftermarket alarm systems some dealers were using back in the day to help prevent lot theft.

The alarm dealer said thats exactly what it is.....
part of the alarm system.
