DD HU Install - HU Mounting Depth Question
I seem to finally have my alignment in the bezel opening correct for my Kenwood DNX8120. However, when I tested opening the faceplate to insert a DVD it was clear the faceplate was hitting the bezel face as it tried to swing open. Thus, it would not open.
This I assume means I need to bring the HU out more so there is room for the faceplate to swing open. The entire faceplate is 5/8" deep, I guess you need all of the 5/8" to be out past the bezel opening, maybe even a little more since the bezel opening has a pretty good angle.
From what I can tell at this point, when moving it out more it looks like some of the HU metal body in back of the faceplate may be visible through the bezel opening if you look closely. Has anyone painted some of the HU metal enclosure black to try and cover this up? Or am I being too picky?

Right now there is no way I could fit the trim piece on so that tells me I have the HU in too far for sure. Would you say I should try and position the HU just at the point where the motorized faceplate will open and close without contact with the bezel or can it come out even a little more than that?
