The only place to buy is directly from the factory. Anywhere else and you are taking an unnecessary risk.

Valentine1.com. $399 same price for years.

Check out their site for some very comprehensive demos/info.

Great Product.

But we're talking about the V1 here. I can't believe you'd even suggest that the exhaulted V1 may be a lemon, even if purchased used from an unknown source

Not so much a lemon, but maybe somehow damaged/dropped/not 100%.

Just have seen some less than satisfying purchases made on fleabay.

You need to verify the code that the V1 is running if you buy used. I've had mine a few years and yeah I could sell it to you for $250 but you wouldn't know that there is a factory upgrade available for my V1 for around $180. Buy new and get the latest/greatest...

If I bought used, I would run the units S/N to find out if it had the latest updates. What you are saying is exactly the problem with buying used, guys are selling their older units for $250, and then turn around and buy a new one, instead of sending it in for an update. The average buyer might not be aware of the this, but I am, so with the recommendations form others, I am going to buy new. Thanks!

Yes, exactly what I meant.

You may buy a used unit and it may appear to be working but as we all know electronics they can break and still be working partially.

Really why would somebody sell a used V1 when you can upgrade and have a new one, I can understand if it is a Bell or Uniden but not a V1!

I picked up a used one off Craig's List with no problems. I even got all kinds of extras. As long as you run the SN # and look it over you should be fine.

How can you tell by looking at a unit that it is not damaged inside (blown circuit)? Lots of things will light up and work when they are broken, I had a DVD player that looked awesome and lit up real pretty but after 15 min it will stop reading the disc and shut off.

Valentine1 will only upgrade a WORKING unit, not a damaged unit.

If you buy used by from someone you trust if it is a high dollar unit, not a stranger.
