Ipod cable?

i just installed my AVIC z110BT and i tried using a regular ipod cable instead of the pioneer one and i get no sound. Do you actually need the pioneer cable?...or is there something wrong with my install.

I purchased a Pioneer CD-IU50V and connected that to the Pionner Ipod adapter and then to my Itouch.
I don't think your install is incorrect, just think you may not have the correct Ipod cable.
