Correct. I have this unit in my daily driver Saturn Vue. Nice unit for the ultra cheap price.
I confirm you can not change the background image. You CAN change the splash screen that comes on during BOOTUP, but you only see this in the event of a total power loss. Just normal turning on/off the car actually just makes it come out of a sleep mode, and you won't see the custom splash screen. They do this do save boot time and make it power up as quick as possible.
