I havent used the 5ch kenwood yet as it just came out and I have one in route. As of recent I have installed a few of the 4 channel kenwood xr4s and IMO its a better amp then the PDX. I have had zero issues out of box, which is more then I can say after numerous PDX installs and having to send amps back. As well the noise floor is much lower. Never have I had more issues with noise levels and alternator whine then with PDX amps.

Maybe you need to look at your install skills? Noise levels and alternator whine have nothing to do with the amp you are installing.

Oh boy yet another NOOB here on the forum. As an installer Ill have to make sure I take your advice to heart. Different amps have different noise tolerances period, Im not gonna waste my time arguing it with you when I have done installs in hundreds of cars, well over 50 vettes, and have done numerous forum memebers cars.
Also as an FYI if you came to the forum just to post garbage in car audio threads do us all a favor and get out.
Edit: Oh and if you dont believe me do some google searching involving maybe the words pdx and noise floor
Not positive, yet. It's going to be a 10", though.
Depending on VC configuration that amp is capable of 600wrms that is a pretty good amount of power for a 10" Truth be told the amp prly has more power then you need but thats not gonna hurt ya

So when you encountered alternator whine, how did you remedy it?

Thanks to all for their input. I've weighed a few different options and have decided what I'm going to install. But given all the turmoil in this thread, I'm just going to keep my choices to myself. Sub is going to cost under a buck. Amp about a buck and a half with a nice 4 gauge wiring kit. I'm looking forward to the improved thump.

FYI 8 ga will be plenty, but since u have that 4ch u might throw in later 4ga will have u prepared for that

lmao
that statment is pure
all electronics have diffrent levels of power supply noise rejection.
and I trust that if you pay attention you would agree that pentavolvo's install skills are above reproach.
