C5 radio reception
I recently finished putting in a Avic Z series head unit in my c5 and don't think the radio reception is quite what it should be. I added the 5v and 12v wire to the powered/amplified antenna and it did help a lot but I still think the reception should be better. I have the local settings on the head unit turned to off and have the antenna setting set to radio. Is their anything else I need to do to get better reception.

I have a 99 coupe with a dd Pioneer 4200 with just the stock connections to the antenna module. FM reception is fine but AM reception was always a problem, even with the stock radio. Since AM reception is handled by the back window grid antenna, someone suggested I disconnect the 2 rear window defroster connections and my AM reception is much improved. I believe all the antenna wiring is ok in my car but that the antenna grid in the back window is not up to standard and that is causing the AM problem. Junkman, on another forum, posted a TSB about this problem but so far I'm content with my reception.
