I have a 2005 with 1SB (Bose). All I want is an aux input, and I don't need nav. Can I buy a 2008+ 1disc or 6disc changer and have it reprogrammed for my car and have it be fully operational? (That is, will the aux input function?)
Why not get one of the many boxes that adds AUX in and plugs into the factory harness??? They are cheap and some of them let you add an ipod or hd radio.

That was my first inclination as well. I ordered on of the new 2.3 pals and never got it to work because my car has no xm nor does it have the xm harness. Most of the boxes will rely on the xm band if I am not mistaken, and that simply is not an option on my 05 non nav radio (us9) with no pre-existing xm.
Just to make it searchable for those in the future, since I have successfully done so:
A us8 (single disc) from a 2008+ car with aux can successfully replace an older six disc us9 radio.
Sorry if this kind of post is considered resurrecting an old thread. Just figured it would be good info if anyone happened to be searching for it in the future.
Thanks for the reply. My car actually didn't have an XM harness so this wasn't an option for me. I opted to just get a 2lt radio from a newer can with an existing AUX in.
