I've got an 06 coupe.I swapped out the factory radio for a Kenwood head unit. The radio reception was great until I put in a new amp and speakers.I tried an antenna booster, but that did not work.Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this reception issue?
FM reception on the C6 will suck unless you have the OEM headunit. I have a post about this (see my past posts about my stereo install). Basically, the car has an AM antenna an an FM antenna system (made of 2 antennas). Both are amped. By default the AM antenna is selected. You must send a signal down a certain wire at the right voltage to enable the FM antenna (separate from the 12V power antenna wire). That improves the sound, but only temporarily. It turns out, that the 2 FM antennas use some kind of phase modulation or something to improve reception, but they need a feedback from the HU. The HU varies the voltage as the car moves. So anyway, after trying pretty darn hard to use the stock FM antenna, I couldn't get it to work reliably (would get a helicopter noise). Buy a metra antenna and stick it in the back under the carpet. They are cheap and work.
What amp do you have powering it up? Is it a class D or have class D? When I initially did my system in my 06 I went with a JL 500/5 amp(with a D sub amp) my radio recetion went to crap. My installer tried telling me its normal dont worry about it. I said F.U.! This isnt normal and Im not paying for it. I ended up calling JL down in Miami and spoke to one of the big shots there. He told me that sometimes D amp affect reception in certain areas of the country and suggested I remove it and use a class AB amp.
I returned the 500/5 and from another audio place had the install a 450/4v2 and a 300/2v2 for my Stealthbox. It solved the problem right then and there.
Not saying thats your problem but something to think about.

I am guessing under the carpet in rear you still get good reception, I have a C5 with after market and the signal is very weak, tried the module mod and it didnt work, this may be what I need?
