Default Subwoofer noise

I have a kenwood 5140 HU with components up front. I added a small amp (200w) and sub this weekend. It works fine and sounds great. No static or unusual noises once it is on.

However, when I first turn it on and the amp first powers up, I get a couple of weird feedback/static noises through the sub. It lasts only a second or two and then it runs fine.

I ran the power along the passenger side and grounded to the trunk latch (scrapped the paint off first). I ran the pre-outs from the HU down the center console and under the rear carpet.

Any ideas?
