- Stock 10" Bose subs in the doors
- Stock Bose amp
- Aftermarket converter behind the h/u to tie into the Bose system (not sure what this is called, sorry)
- Removed Bose center channel
(placed GPS antenna for h/u in its place)
- Removed Bose rear 5.25" speakers
(curious to actual "fill" these provided and still have)
So, I'm not looking for heavy bass or highs nor do I want to add much if any weight to the car with amps, sub enclosures, etc. What can I make work with the current speaker locations but maybe different speakers while keeping the pioneer h/u?
The speaker change(s) came into play all because some of the Bose spkrs took a dump.
If I were you I would get a good set of components to replace the door 10's. Many speakers to choose from, I went with JL C5-650's and love em. Whatever you choose if you decide to go components is, add a small amp to give them more power than the Pioneer can give them. Im not an expert but Im pretty sure the HU wont make good components sound their best. A small amp for the fronts can be mounted behind the seat and adds very little weight. It will sound tons better than the bose 10's. When I took mine out I couldnt believe how cheesy they were made. No weight at all to the magnet and cheap paper! I also would have left the rear fill as I like it. Many dont though. I like the wall of sound and extra volume they provide.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into those JL's. When I pulled the bose subs just to check them out I was shocked to see how crappy built they are. Pretty said and you are right they have no weight to them.... probably 3lbs per sub if that.
Its been about 2 years since I got rid of mine but I would be way surprised if they weighed more than a lb and a half each.
I would choose what speakers you want first and see what kind of wattage they need then figure out what amp. I have my C5's getting 150w each from a JL 450/4v2, but thats not a small amp. There are smaller ones that provide good clean power in a tighter package.
