Mark,
Thanks for the information, this was a great help.
One other question.
With the stock radio, when the car is turned off the radio will stay on for a set time, or when the door is opened.
Is there information on how this is done?
I would presume there is a control wire, fed to the radio that would control this, if so it would be nice to have this work with the new HU?
Regards Kevin.

You can get a "GMRAP" or an "Accessory Valet" from Top Down Tech, both work great.

I'm only switching the head unit for an aftermarket one. Keeping the stock bose system. I've connected all the wires, sans the illumination (HU side) which goes to the cream HVAC line.
Red goes to footwell.
My question are the grounds. The harness splits the ground which then goes to the HU and OEM-1. Do I need to do anything else? Is connecting the HU ground to the harness enough? I don't want to fry anything.
My other question are the leads labeled "?". What do those connect to?
Thanks!

Alright, I tore apart the interior of my car and came to this conclusion.
* No, you can't connect the ground on the harness and leave it like that. You have to properly ground it - the closest would be the cigarette lighter (but beware, the insulation of that wire sticks to the strands, really hard to create a proper splice).
* You have to take out the HVAC unit to get to its harness, then look for the pale yellow wire on the "blue side" of the connector.
* The Switch (red) wire goes into the footwell which is ON THE PASSENGER side (top left, remove the fuse compartment panel). I don't know why, but I automatically started looking on the drivers side =)
* The other side (beige question mark) connects to the second radio harness.
* If you don't have an amp, dont worry about the blue (?) wire.

It's been a while, but IIRC the harness you have as ? is only used if you have an aftermarket amp/speaker setup, which would make the blue wire the amp trigger.

hmm, there are two connections coming out of the dash, and one of them fits. That's why I assumed that one goes there.
Edit: yep, the white connector on the second wire (labelled as ?) is the subs.
