I bought an '01 F350 for, among other uses, towing my Z06 to the track. With a 7.3L turbo diesel and big ol' tires making more noise than I care to compensate for I'm not looking to go audiophile in this vehicle but the 10 year old 6CD changer won't get it done. The dash opening is 1.5 DIN so my plan is to put a single DIN head in there.
I listen to a number of podcasts and it's convenient to stream those from my Android phone as well as having the option to stream Pandora or Rdio. So the features I'm most concerned about are Bluetooth streaming and also iPod integration. My biggest peeve with most iPod integration I've used is the user interface - most have been... less than satisfactory. That includes touch screen interfaces and so therefore having the more limited display space of a single DIN it becomes a greater concern to me.
I've always loved me some Alpine but their approach of making nearly every feature a separate add-in has soured me. Not only do you have to pay a premium for you have to find somewhere to tuck away a myriad of little boxes. I have a couple of double DIN Kenwoods in my C6's that I'm pleased with but have no recent (um, say in the last 25 years!) experience with their single DIN stuff so I ask those who do!
Hey, check with Double D Mods you can find them here or on the web and they can get you all setup with what you need at the best price I can find anywhere.
Checkout the Kenwood KDC-X995, single din unit, 4 x 50 watts, Ipod controller, Pandora radio, HD radio all built into the unit. Dennis at Double D made me a really good deal on one. He may also have an adaptor plate for single din in a 1.5 din opening. I know he has them for Corvettes. Good Luck
