Default Need some helpful advice

2011 C6 GSC 2LT

What would you guys and gals out there say to a comparison of the basic audio system, as opposed to the Bose setup?

All and any input would be helpful

I have called my local auto audio installers in my area

for me to upgrade to "middle of the road" upgraded speakers/amp in the cabin and a custom box with one 12" sub, so both sub and roof can fit.... I was quoted around $1200-$1500

Does the basic stock non bose system have 6 inh or 8 inch speakers?

OR

I was thinking this (stop me if you think its bad idea) putting a box containing two 10" subs or 12's and just leave the roof at home in the garage during nice weather and short trips (live in NY so wont be able to have roof off that much anyway)

Audio means alot to me......

Also one of my local audio guys was talking about replacing the stock head unit

So if the Bose sytem supposedly sux (from what i been reading), how bad is the non bose setup?

Thoughts?

FYI:Money is a factor, so the "stealth" boxes are out of my budget at the current moment----just getting into this beast has been diffucult for me, but hey, we only live once right?

two years ago I was pulling my hair with this also. Absorb as much as you can reading it and other posts here, ask questions and decide which way is good for you. Good luck.

I have a 1lt and I don't think the radio is bad, its just weak. If you are used to having aftermarket audio installed in your car then you definitely won't be happy with the bose. Audio is important for me as well, and I usually gut all the factory stuff and start from scratch. I just built a double 10 inch box that allows the top to fit in as well. I have a build thread I started if you want to get some ideas. Are you going to install your own gear? Here is the link
