Default Just installed Kenwood DNX6980

I bought the Kenwood DNX6980 package from Dennis at Doubledmods.com (forum vendor) and Best Buy just installed it today. I'm having surgery Tuesday so I didn't want to install myself. I was quoted $140 but that was without Steering Wheel Controls as I find out. He had it all apart then told me it was extra so I had no choice but to press on with the install. It was $200 plus tax.

I haven't had much time to mess with the unit yet. NAV is ULTRA SIMPLE to use and very detailed. If you had/have a portable Garmin then it is real easy. If you want a great Navigation go with Kenwood.

I found out my HTC HD2 is not compatible with the 6980 (it is with the 7180/9980. How often does Kenwood update their cell phone software? HD2 is about 1 year old which is an eternity for a cell phone.

I bought an IPOD cable with the 6980. Shouldn't the USB line be where you can get to it. I know the IPOD cable is plugged into it. I would like to update the display screen with a C6 logo.

They said they had to hook it up "legally". I was fearing that you couldn't enter NAV destinations while moving. Well I can, just like my old Garmin Nuvi. I haven't checked to see if the DVD works while moving yet.

I'm going in for surgery Tuesday (nothing serious) so I'll have to take pics later when I'm better and finish the review then.

Dennis at Double D is a pleasure to do business with by the way.

I just ops checked it today. Safety feature is hooked up since I cannot see a movie unless the parking brake is on. However I CAN use any NAV feature.

in order to watch dvd on your dnx6980 you only have to ground out (hook it to a ground) the parking brake wire it is a light green almost a teal color and then you'll be able to watch dvds while you drive.

Also yes when i installed my head unit i put the usb cable right by the ipod cable.

Thanks, watching DVDs while moving wasn't a big priority for me regardless. Entering destinations while moving is nice.
