I'm thinking of installing the following system into my 2000 C5 Vert.
JVC KD-NX5000 in dash nav unit
Polk Audio db6501 6.5" 4ohm door speakers in Madvette mounts.
Polk Audio db1240 12" 4ohm sub in a rear Madvette sub box.

Running all new wire and of course doing the insulation before its complete.

My Question is twofold.
1. Should I install rears too or will the sub overpower them?
2. Suggestions on amps? I'd kind of like to only use one if possible. I don't really want to spend a crazy amount of money but I want better sound than the after market HU and stock speakers.

I know nothing about sound systems. I am going off of pure research on this forum so I am open to suggestions. I am piecing this system together a little at a time.

Thanks all as always

OK, so no rears.

A good mid priced amp is what I'm looking for.

I would rather do it with one amp that drives both the doors and the sub. How many channels and what watt will drive them all with no problem?

Get a 4-channel amp for what you want to do. Ch 1&2 will be for fronts, then bridge 3&4 together for the sub.

If you later decide that you miss the rears you can use the radios internal amp to run the stock rear speakers for a bit of fill.

Google the Kenwood XR-4S amp, if you like it contact member "C5 BearsFan", he owns DoubleDmods.com and can hook you up with a great price
