I live in MN, own a beltronics 995, seems to work great. I am wondering if any police still use "X" band? In MN? Anywhere? I would like to turn it off in the options if its not used, because it seems that it only pops X for false alarms, never state/city police or sheriffs. Thanks
Driving through Arizona in 2009 I encountered the cops using X band on my Escort 9500ix,only turn it off if your absolutely sure they do not use it in your area. Here is a valuable link to speedtraps by state...
In the Escort Radar Detectors Technical Solutions (https://www.escortradar.com/school-tutorials-tech.php) page under the City, Highway, Auto Mode (https://www.escortradar.com/school-t...ls-tech.php#t7) section it says "In a nutshell, the City, Highway and Auto Modes affect X-Band sensitivity ONLY. X-Band is in very limited use in the US. There are only three states that still use X-Band radar guns in any numbers (OH, IN, NJ)."
Could be that some small towns or counties that don't have a lot of money in their budgets still use X band. As long as it works for them and the results stand up in court, they may not see a need to spend money on newer equipment.
