In my 06 coupe I have a JL Stealthbox with a 300/2v2 powering it. I can feel it just fine and it offers good quality bass as well.

The JL Stealthbox is probably the cleanest and easiest-to-install as well as being pretty cost-effective and you can get one of the JL XD series amps (I'm using a 600/1) to hide in either side storage well. There's definitely enough there to feel it

How much bass a person is happy with is a purely personal thing. Someone couldnt possibly answer that question for you. You should find some Corvette guys with aftermarket systems and give them a listen to decide what will make you smile.

Do you still have the sub? Is it hard to install?

In my '05 vert I installed a JL CS113TG-TWS which is a high-end 13 1/2" sub woofer speaker mounted in a slim fiberglass fully enclosed box laid on its back in the trunk:

Powered by a JL HD 750 watt dedicated 1 channel amp:

I removed the firewall to the trunk along with those useless mono Bose speakers so the sound travels forward. I also have a dedicated volume *** for the sub woofer installed on the center console.

To get the sigbal from the Bose head unit I used a PAC SNI-35 variable line out converter.

I kept the Bose 3 1/2" door speakers for a little while and probably would still have them because they sounded a whole lot better now that the splitter was sending all the lows to the sub, but I had already ordered Polk Audio db351 3-1/2" 2-way car speakers so I eventually swapped them out:

Noticeable upgrade

I wanted two subs. So mine will be custom box. The stealthbox makes the install much easier and won't take up as much of your trunk. The amp is about $300-$400 and wiring the amp is the most difficult part of the whole job, but really isn't bad. If you've wired an amp before, it's no more difficult in a vette, just take your time pulling the interior panels.

This is a very good idea. You said you didn't want "extreme" which was the basis for my recommending the stealthbox. It is definitely a significant upgrade and meets a lot of peoples needs. That said, the stealthbox isn't enough for my personal taste, so I'm going with a custom fiberglassed dual 10" setup so I can really move some air.

Still have it...
No problem to install..
Drops into most boxes..
There are other vendors who sell boxes w/ and w/o subs that are MUCH better than the JL Stealthbox..

I formerly had the Stealthbox for a few years & went with another vendor's type drop in box which used this sub, and the difference was incredible..

I recently changed the sub only (to an Alpine) because the tuner shop actually took $300 OFF my bill because they wanted wanted me to use it as a showcase for them, thats why I'm selling the Elemental designs one..
