I'm still shopping..it must be a girl thing. :D
Really..I am just trying to learn and do 'the job' right the first time. Mistakes are too costly. Since Buyloud is no longer a reliable source my selections have been altered.
New options (favorites listed first):
H.U. : Kenwood KDC 9017...Eclipse CD 3421...Pioneer DEH-P6400
Amp : U S Acoustics USA 6300...MMats LM 4065...Zapco Ref. 360...Autobahn A4401Q
Components: MBQuart PSD 316 (6.5/4/1TN)...Focal Polyglass 165V3 (6.5/4/1TN)...JLAudio XR653cs (same as the previous two)...Oz Audio Matrix 190cs (7/1 silk)---the Oz set moved 'down the list' due to the silk dome tweeter & that it is only a 2-way system.
Sub: MMats s10 daul coil...Treo TS10.4...Oz Audio Matrix 250L...JLAudio 10W3 D2---these are all 10", the JL is a bit expensive @ 180.- plus it needs the most power.
I am trying to build a SQ (sound quality for the newbies) system, so I don't really need massive power for SPL (sound pressure level..see, I'm learning  ). If anyone needs the power ratings to help me make an educated choice, please ask. :yesnod:
I'd take the MB Quarts over the Polyglass... But not the Polykevlar, and definately not the Utopia. If you are paying full price for polyglass, get the Kevlars for about the same price from thezeb.com $589.
Utopia comes with the upgraded tweeter, which is.. cutting edge accurate.
Thank you Kale. I am in agreement with you as of now. I chose the Polyglass over other Focals for the two facts of cost and "brassiness". The 'higher level' sets seem a bit harsh. I have been using THEZEB and SoundDomain to get info and prices to compare with the local 'b&m' shops. I will try the ArcAudio link, the few I've seen are even more expensive than Zapco units. :(
Unbelieveable.. Looks like you raised your budget, and you're still not getting as high end or quality as you could have, if you initially bought the equipment I offerd you. Oh well, good luck on your system. My stuff is long gone.... Hate to say I told you so, but I guess a girl like you likes spending about $1000 more, & getting less.......or should I say the short end of the stick.......
Ellis, I am glad that someone relieved you of your old parts. There are two reasons that I didn't take your offer..1) part of the fun is the 'shopping" and learning just as you did at one time and..2) while I certainly am not dissin' your system, I was made aware of a few "variables" that I wanted to address in other ways. Add to that, you wished to sell all the pieces as 'a package deal' and I definintely wanted to "improve the sound stage" therefore negating the need for the rear 'fill' set of speakers.
PS: Don't hate "a girl like me" for being an individual....and believe(!) me, I never get short sticks, all my dates are 'healthy men'. :yesnod: I guess since I'm spending more I'll just have to adjust my fees. :D Ah yes, American business 101 :flag
My stuff wouldn't have worked well with condoms stretched all over them, or don't you require your men's equpiment to use them? In any event, have fun, my equipment is enjoying a fresh clean virgin ride now. :yesnod:
I'm sorry to read that your stuff doesn't work in a condom. It might be that small stick thing you mentioned previously. :bb
The 'adult' bantor has been fun, but I really want to stay on the topic of my audio choices! If you need other amusements we should 'do it' elsewhere. ;)

Since you're so educated in audio electronics from all your fun shopping, why do you need our opinions now?
Seeking the advice of others is a great way to learn from others mistakes; not to mention, learning about great things they don't sell at the local stereo shops.
Yeah Kale (92TripleBlack and the others), your opinions have helped me improve my understanding. I hope you will continue to offer guidance while I narrow my selections. Afterall, isn't that what The Forum is all about? Each dealer has their own preferences (which they push heavily)--sometimes not the best choices at that. I value constructive advice and it seems The Forum has plenty to offer. :yesnod:
