Head units...
The problem is that modern head units have less features, less technology, less flexibility, worse display, and higher cost than before.
(unless you want to buy some awful expensive outboard or proprietary tuning setup...)
It would be like buying an iphone in 2004, then in 2011 all you can get are 80s style brick phones.
Who still builds reasonably priced head units on par with the 9855?
Multiple eq/crossover/time correction (5) settings, multiple colors on buttons, decent looking built in display, 3 way crossover, 5 band parametric/ ability to save settings on a CD... etc etc.]
It looks like a lot of great SQ features were thrown out for... USB support? It's not like they don't have room in the chassis.
CDA-117 looks as close as I can get... Though I heard some features won't work without the imprint...
And... no built in HD radio? Doesn't fold laundry? Where's the technology improvement?

why don't we have an android head unit yet, with android apps that have full 32 band parametric eq, 3 way crossover, streaming pandora/etc? We've had the technology for yeaaars.
