thinking about keeping the stock bose h/u and adding new components in the front, new coaxial in the rear all powered by a 4 channel amp. the question is what adapters do i need to make this work and retain all the rap functions?
i thought about changing out the head unit as well but i am not crazy about the look of the single din adapters and the double din seems a little more work than i want to do right now. although maybe later. i would also like to add the i pod cable. i do not have the cd changer.
i did look thru the faq but a lot of the info is kind of old so i thought if anybody had some new info to add...

2000 coupe with the stock bose
I'd stongly recommend reconsidering swapping the head-unit or adding a JL clean-sweep (or the equivalent). I retained my factory head-unit for about a year after going to JL C5 components and a JL XD amp. The sound quality was definitely much better than the Bose system, but once you got to a certain volume, the music started to distort and the amp clipped some of the sound. Once I added a head-unit all of the distortion and clipping went away and the fullness and richness of the music was DRAMATICALLY improved. Consider the fact that the factory head unit will bring about a 1v signal back to the amp versus the 4-6v signal from an aftermarket head-unit. So, how much signal and what signal quality do you think you're getting from that factory unit versus the aftermarket. I regret not spending the extra couple bucks and swapping the head-unit earlier.
As for the specific adapters, etc. that you'll need, I suggest giving Dennis a call/PM at DoubleDMods. He's the resident guru on all of that and has better pricing than you're likely to find elsewhere. He can also set you up with some good head-unit options if you reconsider that...
