C6 Stereo Upgrade HUD question
Sorry for the newbie question, but I have a Bose/non-Nav 07 Z06 and am looking at upgrades. I have seen a few posts mentioning the HUD during an install. Is the heads up display linked to the radio head unit ?

The HUD will still work just fine, but it won't display the radio info any more. Trust me, you'll never miss it if you get a good radio. If you have steering wheel control buttons they can be made to still work.
If you don't have onstar, the best interface to get is the C2R-GM24 regardless of your amp/speaker plans. If you have onstar, and want to keep it, contact C5 BearsFan, he can hook you up with the perfect system

Cool...I only use the HUD to glance at speed anyway. Thanks for the info...so for my understanding, is the interface , relaying car info, used as an input to a head unit or as an inline/break-in signal to an amp ? I plan to replace the head unit, speakers and add an amp.

The oem radio generates all of the beeps and warning chimes, and the car doesn't have a normal 'switched' power wire in the radio harness since it listens in on the serial data line and turns the radio on/off when the BCM tells it to. The interface generates your chimes, provides switched power source, and if you have onstar allows it to function. It's not an absolute must, but the interface really is needed.
