Driver side speaker problem.
I had pentavolvo put in some Polk 3.5 speakers as a direct replacement for the Bose about 3 years ago in a '08 C6 coupe. He did a great job and all was well until a few months ago when I discovered that the driver side was just not putting out much sound and what it was putting out was muffled and completely devoid of any highs almost like the only sound was coming from the Bose bass module.
I've tried hitting the door and sometimes it seems to come back on and other times that does nothing. I'm extremely hesitant to think that it's a bad connection as Greg really knows his stuff and this was a pretty simple project and there does seem to be some history, which I can't find.
The easiest way to eliminate the speaker itself as the problem is to install another one (possibly one of the stockers that were removed), or swap left/right to see if the problem moves.
It could be a loose/broken wire. If it's at the speaker, that should be obvious once the door panel is removed. It could be a broken wire between the amp and speaker, most likely place is in the accordian gizmo near the door hinge, but that seems rare in C6 (not too uncommon in C5).
Worst case, the amp or radio itself may be on the way to vette heaven.
The only thing I'm really sure about is that you need to remove the door panel and doing some troubleshooting to figure it out
When it does come on, it sounds fine. I've seen some posts that reference the DIC chimes and as I said, known issues, but can't find any real insightful details.
Thanks for your help.
