Default Help with 1986

Guys: My 1986 has a crappy Sony head unit in it and apparently stock Delco speakers, at least in the rear. It sucks pretty bad. For now I am simply enjoying the sound of the engine and my new Magnaflows. Eventually the novelty will wear off and I'll want to hear some tunes. I am planning on going with a more modern iPod capable system. Questions:
1. If this was originally Bose, it would say that on the grills, correct? I found a standard looking 6 x 9 in the rear and no evidence of an amp near the speaker.
2. The Delco rear stockers are 10 ohms. I am looking at an aftermarket head unit that suggests 4-8 ohm speakers. Stockers won't work, correct?
3. What would be the outcome if I tried to use stockers if they aren't blown?
4. Should I be looking for 4 ohm speakers or 8 ohm speakers? What is the deal there...are they offered in various ohm ratings?
5. Will a standard 6 x 9 fit nicely into the rear openings or will I need to modify?
6. What size are the front speakers in my car? I haven't tried to get at them yet on the dash.
7. I have never seen "A" and "B" designations on the connectors before. Which one is considered positive? I guess as long as I maintain polarity, right?
Thanks for your time and assistance with my idiotic questions.

Yes

I found a standard looking 6 x 9 in the rear and no evidence of an amp near the speaker.
This is a normal replacement speaker, most likely 4 ohm hooked directly to the HU. The stock speakers are all 4"

See answer # 1

3. What would be the outcome if I tried to use stockers if they aren't blown?
As a guess you don't have the stock speakers in the car anymore

4. Should I be looking for 4 ohm speakers or 8 ohm speakers? What is the deal there...are they offered in various ohm ratings?
Your replacement HU wil dictate what ohm speakers you get but you can pretty much bank on 4 ohm
5. Will a standard 6 x 9 fit nicely into the rear openings or will I need to modify?
Looks like you already have that
6. What size are the front speakers in my car? I haven't tried to get at them yet on the dash.
The dash speakers are 4x6 and you have to pull the dash pad to get at them. The grills do not come off

7. I have never seen "A" and "B" designations on the connectors before. Which one is considered positive? I guess as long as I maintain polarity, right?
Yes you must maintain polarity. No clue about the A & B markings. Good speaker wire will be marked on the casing. Generally the positive side will have a white line or better speaker wire will have "+ "s stamped on it

Thanks for your time and assistance with my idiotic questions.
Pull one of your front speaker covers and unscrew the speaker. Stock speakers have a simple part number on them and are very plain looking. Aftermarket speakers, if they are of any quality will have the name of the manufacturer on them. Plus you should have, if they did the installation right, aftermarket speaker wire running to the speakers versus using the existing wiring and connector.

Default Thanks!

I am pretty sure these are the standard speakers that came with the car and not aftermarket. They are Delco brand (made in Japan) and plug right into the factory harness with connectors that have the A and B markings. They are clearly 10 ohms from the sticker on the magnet, so they must be original. Everything I read about stock stereos talks about odd ohm ratings for the speakers, so 10 must be original for this car. I will need to use new ones rated for 4 ohms anyway, so they will be replaced. Thanks for your input!
