Default radio electrical problem

If my 2005 c6 sits for several days the radio produces no sound. The station reads out and sound bar moves up and down, but no sound. I have to disconect the battery to get it to reset. Anyone have an answer?

Has your car thrown any codes?

You may need to replace the radio... either a stock replacent or aftermarket unit.

Loose/broken trigger wire to the amp is my guess, but you'd have to check it with a meter WHILE IT WASN"T WORKING to figure it out for certain.

If you can't DIY when it fails, and it gets to the point where it stays off all the time, you can swing by my place for a little help. I'm in Augusta area.

The only way to get the sound back is to disconnect the battery. The sound will stay off until I do. Would like to come by Augusta.

No message light for a code.

If that is the way it happens every time, I'd have to guess that it's a problem with the radio itself. If the radio comes on, then it's reading the serial data line properly, but then the radio should be providing a 12v trigger to the amp so it turns on. Sounds like the radio isn't putting out either the audio signal or the trigger. But I suppose something strange could be going on with the amp also.

Sorry, Pulled the trigger to quick. Went to GM dealer yesterday. They say new amp. One ordered $500. If this is not the fix I will need new radio, $500. If amp does not fix the radio is free.

That makes it sound like they're just guessing at the amp being bad
