I've had a Pioneer Cassette head unit and 6-disc changer for almost 7 years in various cars I've owned.... when I sold a car, I would buy a cheap stereo and put it in, and pull my system.....
Well, I've decided to get all new stuff. I've bought the Kenwood MPV7019 which is an MP3/CD player and Sirius ready head unit! It has pre-amp outputs for front, rear and subs. I'm looking at a Kenwood component speaker setup for the front, but not sure what to put in the rear. I've got Pioneer 6x9's in the back right now. They're only 6 months old, I may use them for now. I figure I'll get either two amps or a 4-way amp to power the front and rear speakers. (my current amp for te 6x9's is messing up, so it's going) Don't know about a sub yet.....
That's a nice looking head unit. Forget the kenwood components.
Spend all your money on some good components, MB Quartz, Rainbow, Focal, Dynaudio. There are some good JL 6.5's that aren't too expensive, eiither.. JLXr65's? Someone should know.. Under $300 a set at least. I'm not sure if you'll have issues with 6.5's in the late c4...
Get a 4 way amp. Two 2 way amps means double mounting, usually larger net size physically, and added expense for the same power output. Look for at least 50-75wx4 continuous. 100wx4 would be optimal. Forget speakers made by "deck" makers like pioneer, kenwood, sony, alpine, etc. They're all junk. Get a decent set of components. Kale had some good names. You might also want to include boston acoustics and a/d/s in the mix. Listen to them and get the set that sounds best to you. A good set of seperates costs $300-600 so don't be alarmed by the sicker shock. Lastly, use 6x9 in the rear if you aren't adding a sub. If you plan to have a sub, use a second set of seperates. I like the boston 6x9 RX97. Great bang for the buck.
Hope this helps.
P.S. What DOES happen when a vette is struck by lightning?
