I would like to get one over summer since my head unit is dead .. i was wondering what the best value is. I'm not looking for the best, just one that works and is relatively inexpensive. less than $300.
The price changes all the time. 2 weeks ago it was $174. It depends on what vender has the unit in stock. I'd try again in a couple of days and see if you get a better price.
I just put the pioneer premier 840mp in my car and love it, but that sells for around $380. The pioneer premier 740mp has xm satillite tuner, front, rear and sub rca outs and can be found under $300. The pioneer 7400 has the same features but minus the sub out only front and rear rca outs.
Just bought the Alpine CDA-7892....50X4...preamp RCA's...mp3 and xm ready.....www.circuitcity.com or your local one, price was in the $ 265.00 range....www.crutchfield.com was in the $ 279.00.....this unit maxes out the FM sensitivity and CD signal to noise ratio.... :yesnod:

Me 2......of course I'm biased cuz I just bought one....I'm sure there are better units out there but, for the money, Alpine had the features I was looking for in the Price range I wanted
I bought the JVC-SH99 in February for $209.99! There's a lot better ones out than JVC right now, as their sound quality and reception isn't the greatest.

This is what I chose also, except the CDA-7894.. 60X4. It will be installed this weekend. The local shop quoted only $250 but it's part of an entire package and they're making their money elsewhere. They seem to be very nice HU's. It was the shop favorite. MP3 CD's will be great!
Can someone take a picture of the single DIN unit in there's so i can see what it looks like? And what did you use to fill up the second DIN area? A little place to stick the only 2-3 cd's i'll ever need with an MP3 player would be nice :)
I had to cut the outer trim ring because the design of the head unit basically required the silver trim ring to look right. I used a dremel and a sanding drum and just went little by little until it fit. It wasn't the best job, but you really can't tell when you are sitting in the car.
