Default C5 rear speakers not fitting

Hello guys, I bought my car with aftermarket speakers...they look like 6" or so.

I have almost completed the process of removing everything aftermarket and going back to stock...except for my rear Bose speakers not fitting.

They look like they are at least an inch too small to fit the frame of the old speakers, am I missing some kind of bracket, or what do you think?

For what its worth, the OE rear speakers are 6.75" diameter speakers. If what you have is any smaller, maybe they are Bose speakers, but not the Bose speakers for a C-5.

The C5 coupe had 6.5" speakers in the rear, the Vert and FRC/Z had 5.25" rear speakers, due to weight and clearance issues.

Sounds to me like you're trying to put Vert speakers into a coupe.

I beg to differ......the coupe's had 6.75" speakers in the rear. I had a pair of 6.75" Kenwoods laying around, left over from a previous car, and they fit like a glove, in the rear of my C-5........not that they sounded much better than the OE Bose speakers!

6.5 and 6.75 are basically the same thing, and only coupes fit them

vert/z06/frc are 5.25

Did you actually measure the speaker? It's 6" on the sides, and 7" on the ends of the mounting tabs.

Aftermarket speakers, sure... but you didn't have Bose 6.75" speakers, which is what he is talking about.

My Pioneer TS-C720PRS speakers were advertised as 6.75" speakers, but they were actually SMALLER than a typical 6.5" driver. The cutout hole size was 5 1/2" and the only thing that was 6.75" on those were the plastic mounting rings in the box.

But Pentavolvo is right... the 6.5" and 6.75" speakers are (for the most part) interchangeable.

Don't feel bad... how in the world would you know that they would be different? Besides, you can always sell them to get your money back.

Just curious, but why are you going back to stock? Selling your car?

Because my full exhaust is so loud you cannot listen to the radio anyway. I hear that the factory bose system is pretty decent for a stock set up. I just don't want to deal with the aftermarket electrical issues for the most part. I may change my mind someday, but I'd have to install a quieter exhaust first.
