I'm looking for a box setup for a C3 with room for a couple 10's and 2 6x9's or suggested setup. Need to keep room for the ttops though. Currently has an aftermarket 6x9's box that extends the width of the rear copartment- looking for ideas. So far, I've been told I'd be better off going with a single box for a 10 or 12 and 2 single boxes next to that for 6x9's. Any ideas??
Rex Ruby and I just put together a false back wall for my 69 that is a press fit... it only takes up about three inches of space in the back, and provides plenty of space to mount whatever you would like. Since all of these C3's tend to be alittle different (size wise) thake some careful measurements and go to town.
what all do you have for a speaker combo- 8's or 10's, whats it powered by, how's it sound, and do your tops fit in no problem after?? Did you cut some board to shape? and how's it held there? just pressed? doesn't want to come loose? thanx alot for the pic.
The Speakers 8's are out of a box I bought a year or two ago... the box took up too much space so I took it out. I have a set of Infinitys (4x6) upfront as well. It's driven by a Power Acustik 4x150 watt amp. The sound right now is well... messed up... I have a ton of electrical noise, which I hope to work out tomorrow night. (when the car isnt running it sounds great! with it running ... :U  )
I'm sure I'll upgrade the speakers some time in the future, but I have to stash aways some $$$ to do it right.
The Box is just a press fit. It's plenty snug and has no vibration at all. It's made from 3/4 inch MDF and wrapped with carpet to match the interior. Like I said it only takes up about 3-4 inches of space off the back wall, and the tops should fit with plenty of room to spare. Keep in mind to leave enough space for the carpet when you take your measurements... you dont want it so tight that it flexes the fiberglass! We cut mine down (a little at a time) 3 times before it was right!
Give it a shot... If I can get the electrical noise problem worked out I'm sure I'm gonna love it! :yesnod:
If you are putting in subs, put in round speakers to go with them, not 6x9s. They are good for producing bass in the absense of a real woofer but not as good at mid and tweet as a good set of components or round coax would be. You will probably save some money in the process.
Re: looking for box setup for C3` (foundvettelifeisgood)
Doh!!! Sorry I just saw your post!!! No my tray isnt in the car right now... but it will be soon. I will have to cut it down a tad... but it should still be completely functional...
My head unit is a crappy Custom autosound unit.... for now anyway I plan on upgradeing sometime soon tho!
