I agree, I could put some decent size tweeters in the dash where the plate speakers go

Sent you a PM on the crossovers, I can give you my UPS number

Also,I am ready to make the 8" sub encloses, should I use filler inside?

I would put some filler in the cabinets to absorb some of the vibratation; were are you going to mount the subs?

I think if you lose the doors, and replace them w/ a solid piece of MDF, and then just cut two holes for the speakers you should be good to go. You may need to do some bracing under the MDF. Take a look at the "What do you run" sticky at the top of the section.

I am going to send you a PM as well.

Randy

I think you'll have no problem doing that. I know I guy who did what your thinking of doing, and he had no problems. The dynamat should help alot.

Thanks for your help Randy! I ordered two Crossovers and also bought a second set of Alpine tweets with Crossovers, so I wont need your set, but I appreciate your offer, thanks!

OK, I calculated the volume using a box calculator and came up with .340 cu/ft, and the JBL calls for .33 cu/ft,,,, so I can put poly filler in if I need.

The compartments are lined with Dynamat and I will add Poly Fill if necessary, I will run 200 watts to each 8" sub

I will run a sealer around the perimeter of the 3/4" MDF and then use screws to attach the MDF to the Compartment wall at the bottom (behind the seat, and top going thru the MDF and compartment wall with a nut and washer on the outside of the compartment under the car. The way I cut the MDF, the board wedges into the compartment hole perfectly and very tight, you have to pray it out to get the mount board out. I mitered the sidewalls on an angle to match the actual sidewall angles.

Rough/crappy pictures but all I did was drop the subs into the holes and take pics, I'm waiting on carpet which i will use to cover the visible sidewalls and MDF before I mount the speaker covers and subs.

I tested it briefly and with the lids off it sounded great, so I guess I'll wait to see if adding the lids back on changes or muffles the sound

For caulk / sealant to seal the perimeter, will anything work or should I get something that will set up hard?

I would stay w/ something the will be easy to clean at a later date, in case you want to change something. Why not use some strips of caulk?

Pictures look good, can't wait to see the finished product!!!

It's also a good idea to install the cover without the speakers installed, then let the sealer dry very well before installing them so the fumes don't get trapped and possibly damamge the speaker.
