C5 with a rear amp/sub all wired correctly with sub leads connected to the pre-outs on the rear of the x930BT and front / rear speakers wired to the main harness. I don't have Bose speakers. When I set the rear output to "full" all speakers work correctly and I can control the sub (on, off, output volume, etc.). When I set the rear output to "subwoofer" the sub works but I loose my rear speakers.
This is not how the unit is supposed to work, is it? None of my previous Pioneer units had this problem.
Any input would be appreciated.
There are 6 RCA outputs, 2 front, 2 rear, and 2 SUB (if they're not in the wire harness, look on back of HU itself). You need to be connected to the SUB output RCA's, it sounds like you're on the rears.
I have only 3 RCA outputs on the back of my unit, 2 of these are labled SUBWOOFER (SWL & SWR). The installation manual instructs to use these for an auxilliary amp / sub. The instructions say to use the RCA's in the harness for front / rear speakers w / amps.
So if you leave the rear setting on full then everything works. How is that a problem
If you change the rear output to 'sub' you shouldn't hear anything on the rears, you just turned them off except for frequencies that they probably can't play (or the HPF on your amp eliminates whatever is there).
It's just that the x930BT manual says to set the rear output to "subwoofer" when using one, for whatever reason. That's what the manuals on the previous 2 Pioneer units I had in the car said to do, and all was good with those units. Yes it works fine when set to "full" so that's how it will stay with this unit.
